Weekend in Yellowstone

Dang, that just crazy we live so close to Yellowstone. Madigan said "I want to see geysers" and since we didn't know where we were going to go camping, we decided to head to Yellowstone and camp there!! Madigan insisted on geysers, hikes and animals while int he park. We had a great time and we left the dogs at home which was a relief.

Goat Farm

I signed Madigan up to visit the organic goat cheese farm outside town. We had a blast despite knowing other goats in the area.

Sprinkler Time

We didn't figure this out until the second half of summer, but good thing we did.....Give Madigan a hose with a mist attachment and she's set for a good hour or so!

And the sprinkler does seem to work, but not when it's kind of chilly out....only lasted a few minutes.

Dress Up

Madigan is officially into dress up. We got a lion and a cow costume from the Nelson family a while back.

Garden Harvest

When Madigan and I returned from Wisconsin, we walked right over to the garden before going in the house---it had grown feet in a week!! So, last week, we picked a couple of zucchini and a green pepper from the garden for Pasta ala Kyle. Madigan ate her whole bowl full! We seem to talk a lot about where our food comes from around here- we belong to 2 CSA's (Community Supported Agriculture)-one meat and one veggie, we have chickens, and we see stuff together around town. Madigan now asks me "where did that grow from?" or "who grew that?", and I can't help but smile since it's so sweet and also it's so the person I want her to be (aware of her food that is).
Also, notice the jewelry on her ankles. I'm not sure where they get this from, but it just happens one day....

Lunch on the Lawn Dancing

Two weeks ago we went to Lunch on the Lawn (live music on the Emerson lawn) and to our happy surprise, Madigan's bestest friend from daycare, Paulina, was there. These 2 were 2 peas in a pod for the last couple of months they were at Little Tree together. Madigan stopped going to stay home with Mom for the summer and Paulina moved to her Montessori school at the same time. So, they were very happy to see each other and danced their hearts out. The following week, I brought the FLIP and captured these videos below....funny Madigan wore her leotard and ballet shoes and Madigan wore her tutu....and they didn't even call each other first.

Alder Gulch Shortline

Since Virginia City is only about 15 miles from Ennis and we didn't have the dogs, we decided to head over the hill and take the Alder Gulch Shortline railroad ride. It's only about 2 miles and goes from Virginia City to Nevada City. Both cities are old gold towns. They have lots of things open and the rest is preserved for visitors. We dipped our feet in the nearby stream waiting for the official "all aboard".
