Alder Gulch Shortline

Since Virginia City is only about 15 miles from Ennis and we didn't have the dogs, we decided to head over the hill and take the Alder Gulch Shortline railroad ride. It's only about 2 miles and goes from Virginia City to Nevada City. Both cities are old gold towns. They have lots of things open and the rest is preserved for visitors. We dipped our feet in the nearby stream waiting for the official "all aboard".

Wedding in Ennis

One of Kyle's employees got married in Ennis Saturday night. We stayed in a cabin at El Western. Madigan had lots of fun dancing and hanging out with Mom and Dad. Below she entertains herself with insect cards.

Gallatin County Fair

Last weekend we made a trip to the Galaltin County Fair. We were only able to go one day we since we headed out of town for a wedding, so we were sure to fit in everything.Madigan's first roller coaster (which is not made for adults). We still can't believe she raised her hand!

Family Time 2

Madigan gave and received so many kisses in Wisconsin I think she's worn herself out!

She even rode the jetski!

Family Time

Madigan and I stayed in town an extra day or 2 so we could make sure to get a family bbq in.

Miscellaneous things to do in Wisconsin...

First to the Zoo 3

And of course the zoo's train ride was in order.

First the Zoo 2

Here's Madigan and Brook riding the camel. Madigan had a huge grin on her face the whole time!

First the Zoo 1

The first day Madigan and I were in Wisconsin, we went to the Milwaukee County Zoo. It's a fabulous zoo! Right now they have this bird exhibit that you can feed the birds with seeds on a popsicle stick. It was cool. We also got to see giraffes being fed about 3 feet from us and Madigan rode a camel with her cousin Brook. It was a long day, but totally worth it.

Teacher Gifts

Madigan's last day of datcare, not that I am unemployed, was last Tuesday. So, she and I made each of the teachers a little gift; an oilcloth wallet (business card holder style), a note from me, and a coffee card. Madigan painted a little picture on each notecard and I wrote over it. Each teacher got a personalized note from me. Madigan has learned so much and they have really seemed to be very caring and sensitive with her (especially when she was younger and shyer).

Camping

Last weekend we went camping on the Big Hole. Kyle was already in Divide, MT so we met him over there. The thing I remember most is the mosquito bites! Madigan was very proud of hers and wanted to make sure to show them to Dad. On the way home we stopped at Fairmont Hot Springs and swam for a while. Despite it being a short trip, we had a great time.
