Mermaids

Madigan drew a couple of mermaids a few weeks back:

January in Instagram

I bought the Instagram app for my Iphone and now I only take pictures with that. I love it so much. I should probably keep some pictures in color, but I love the black and white "inkwell" filter. (Really, the Iphone is to blame for the blog neglect.)

Madigan is now home full time with us for the Winter. We are having a very unusually warm winter with barely any snow. We have been keeping busy with legos, puzzles, books, etc. We went to the library 3 times this past week alone (after begging from Madigan!). After this weekend she has all her gear for skiing (starts lessons Feb 25th) and she also started ice skating lessons on Tuesday nights. All 4 of us have been tearing through reading material like you would not believe! Madigan's ideal day would be to read from morning to night. And Leo has caught the bug as well, made even better by Madigan finding truck books for him at the library (sweet big sis).
Museum of the Rockies every week:
Barnaby totally thought we set the tent up for him. He was in all the time, whereas the kids barely went in at all:
Neighborhood walk with M:
More reading:
Madigan wanted to start ballet class again so we went to class once and then she decided she did not want to start classes again. Does she look so cute and happy? She continues to dance around the house, but apparently a structured class with a set time is not what this girl wants right now in the midst of our very unstructured Winter.
Oh my boy, I could go on and on about this sweet little man. In the last couple of weeks he seems even more attached to me, saying "Mama" all the time and giving me kisses as soon as he wakes up and then all day by surprise.
I will never tire of this scene:
Neighborhood walk, it takes a very long time to walk 5 blocks to the co-op with these 2 kids:

Naya is around 14 years old and her latest vet appointment last week revealed she is still in perfect health!

Pennsylvania Trip

We went to Pennsylvania for 2 weeks right after Christmas. We split our time between Kyle's parents house and his sister's house. The 5 cousins spent tons of quality time together and are so lucky to have each other so close in age! (We only took our Iphones and therefore don't have a ton of pictures.)

The weather was so mild and warm most of our trip. This is my favorite picture from the trip:

Leo and Kassidy (the 2 youngest) are buds!Leo turned 2 on our trip!!
Model train exhibit that we needed way more time with:
Farm Show: first up donuts and milkshakes:
Finding Kyle's old Legos to bring home to MT:
Dolphin show at the Baltimore Aquarium, a highlight of the trip for sure. Out of all 5 kids, Leo was the most excited with the dolphin tricks:

Madigan finally got to make gingerbread cookies. Nana found a mix and frosting that were delicious and did not require 6 hours of mixing and refrigerating:

Playing cards with Nana:
Just sitting on the tractor was enough for Leo:
Walking through the woods at Nana and Pappy's:
Watch out Madigan is driving!:

Grandpa's Departure

It seems like a lifetime ago, but the week before Christmas my Dad left after a month long visit. We weren't really ready for him to leave, even after such a long visit. Leo who barely says anything even says "Grandpa".At the airport, some pictures taken by Madigan:

December Misc

Lego building, apparently the mudroom floor is the best place:

Oh and this little guy stole MANY candy canes off the tree and then silently ate them behind the chair in the living room. Here he is caught with his partner in crime, Barnaby:
Bedtime routine:
The kids both caught a tummy bug the week before Christmas, therefore movies were in order:
No tree topper?, make your own from toilet paper rolls and foil:

Now that Leo has eczema, he gets a bath every single day:

New Pet

We have a new temporary pet at the Mock house: Bo, the hamster. It's my brother Matt's hamster but we have him for a few months while Matt is in WI for the Winter. The kids do love Bo, but to be honest the attraction has faded a bit. And Leo doesn't quite understand that you can't pick Bo up in his exercise ball and toss him across the room.

Christmas Tree Trip 2011

(Yes, I know I am very behind on my blog posts. I promise to be better in 2012.)

We went out to our favorite local farm for a Christmas Tree in 2011. Grandpa and Uncle Matt joined us for a very cold trip. We found a beautiful tree (which later developed some sort of fungus that smelled like vomit). It was a fun, but short trip.
I love this picture below. If it weren't for the smoke this would have been our Christmas card photo.

Rare photo of Kyle and I:

And here we are decorating the tree the night of the Christmas Stroll downtown.
