Fences

Garden Harvest

Here's Madigan cutting and cleaning some radishes from the garden.

Fairy Houses

We made a fairy house at the library this week- SO MUCH FUN! They provided the hot glue guns and we brought the rest. It was really cool to see what other kids were making and out of what. Here's M and I's:
After we got home I decided wine corks would be perfect fairies. (It just so happens that I have hundreds of corks saved up.) So, we made a few and used tulle as wings, which worked out perfectly.

Happy Wet Baby

Leo is starting to play in the bath water. He really likes the water and I think he always has for the most part. Madigan is waiting patiently for the day she and Leo can bathe together. He's not sitting up yet, but he will be very soon.

P.S. In case you are wondering, it's a baltic amber teething necklace.

Dance Pants

The other morning, we had a little dance party listening to Grace Potter & the Nocturnals. Some mornings just need to start with some good music and dance moves!

Leo Style

Book Sling

I made this little book sling using this tutorial. It took about 10 minutes and we LOVE LOVE LOVE it! At bedtime I try to ask Madigan her happy part and sad part of the day. (The kid has the memory of an elephant!). The other night she said me making this sling was her happy part! I love that kid!

July Misc

Madigan would have sat in the bumbo seat for hours. Leo on the other hand only minutes!Madigan has been listening to kids music on the Ipod the last couple of road trips. It makes me fast forward to the teenage years seeing her with the headphones on!Our little hiker:

This is what a typical morning at our house looks like. This video captures it completely!

Getting to Naya's Bowl

This is Leo "crawling" last night. He loves Naya's bowl-empty or full. Can you believe how fast he is!!!???

Leo Eating

Here's Leo having some banana yogurt and rice cereal. That's all he's had so far, and he finally seems to be getting into eating solids. I'm hoping to make and freeze some of the summer's fruits for him to have when he's ready.

(Impromtu) Dinner Picnic

Since the hail storm life seems to have gotten a lot busier around here...There's just isn't enough time in the day. On Sunday, Kyle and I were working off a list of '100 things to do before the weekend is over', which included things like mow the lawn and do quarterly reports for the business. So, after putting Madigan off all day, we decided to grab dinner at the coop and head to the park so we could all play. It was perfect.

Leo's new favorite skill is to get on his knees and rock. He gets a huge grin on his face, like he knows whats coming next:

Sitting (Almost)

Leo is almost sitting up on his own. Boy, this guy is so strong. Today he got all the way across the room before I noticed he was on the move. The doctor thought it he'd be crawling in the next month or so. I think it may even be sooner.

Leo's 6 month appointment details:
15 lbs, 13oz
25 1/4 inches long
He's not very big-about 20% for his height and weight.

Ears!

We stopped to visit with some friends after the National Folk Festival this weekend. Madigan entertained herself for a few minutes by drawing a couple of pictures. Later, when she showed me I got really excited!!!- Her people now have ears!

And earrings!!:Watching your child develop the skills to draw and to put their thoughts on paper is truly amazing. Her scratches and scribbles are cool, but when there's a real pictures with real parts, it's so different.

First Camp 2010

All of the talking members of our family have been talking about camping since January! We got a new little 1960's VW trailer for some extra space, a new 3 burner stove, and an inflatable pool to keep the baby in that made it so easy! We headed up to Hyalite for 2 nights of last minute camping and had a blast. We met a friend, Sharon, up there. Saturday morning rained and snowed, but we made breakfast through it and it turned out to be a lovely day.

M and her new fishing pole (a bridge right at our camp site!!):

Breakfast in the van during snow and rain:
It was soooo great to get out camping. We're really looking forward to as much camping as possible this summer!

Hail Storm

Sleeping baby:Hail storm June 30, 2010:

This hail storm was CRAZY! Baseball size hail was reported in town, but we saw mostly gold ball size here. It's bringing a lot of work to Kyle which I guess is an upside. On the downside 3 windshields were broken and all the screens on the back of the house blown out. Our garden wasn't big enough to take a beating yet.

More Reading

I know I keep posting these pictures, but they're so cute together! Madigan likes to read and Leo likes to play on the floor, so this is what a good part of our day looks like around here.

First Cereal

Leo had his first cereal a couple of weekends ago. He didn't really take it like Madigan did at his age. I offered a couple more times before bed (wrong time!) and he didn't go for it. He's not really interested in our food so I'll just wait until he seems ready.

Madigan's job is to pick out a bib for Leo. She picks the same one every time- "Baby's First Christmas".

In other Leo news- he's a STRONG little boy! He's rolling out of everything-including off the bed and into his co-sleeper, he's about to get his first bottom 2 teeth (any day!), and he's already getting on his knees preparing to crawl. He just turned 6 months!!!
