Cork Boats

The kids and I followed this tutorial and made cork boats yesterday. Then of course we had to go and float our boats on a nearby trail. The trail I picked had just the right amount of water and a bridge we could stand over to float the boats. Madigan loved it. Leo tried to throw his stick with the string attached in the water each time I gave it to him (gotta watch that one I tell ya!!).

Leo is so observant when we're out on walks. Here he's listening to and watching a red winged blackbird in the tree.




Here's our boats. They worked perfectly and only took 3 minutes to make. You can see one in the water in the background. (Side note: this is my perfect day: making something crafty really fast and then taking it out to play with. I wish that every day was so easy.)And of course, there were snacks before falling asleep on the walk back:
