The Perfect Easter

We had the perfect Easter-60 degrees and endless sun. We all got sunburned and spent as many hours as possible outside. Brunch at our friend's farm (with day old baby goats!), backyard playing, yummy dinner and then a bike ride to the park after dinner....yup, perfect day...

Outdoors & Ice Cream

A couple of weeks ago we all walked/rode to the grocery store after dinner to get some ice cream.
Leo rode his rocket ALL THE WAY to the grocery store (5 blocks) AND BACK!! We were so impressed and he was so determined. Madigan stopped along the way to help her brother if he needed it.

And since Leo is technically old enough to have ice cream, and he's only 5% on the weight charts, we give in every once in a while and let him have it.

Sneaky Leo

Leo has been climbing into Madigan's chair at the table lately. This morning he climbed up and got into Madigan's easter basket and started eating her candy! That picky eater can spy junk food from a mile away I tell you!

Egg Dyeing

We dyed eggs this past weekend. Even Leo wanted to take part in the festivities!

Baby Chickens!

We finally made the jump and decided to go and pick up some new chickens. Our local store had the ones that I really wanted (silver laced wyandottes) so we got 3 of those and one blue laced wyandotte. Right now we don't know if any or all of them are hens! This time around Madigan is very into holding them and can be heard saying "having baby chicks is so fun" at any point in the day. She's been checking on them constantly, sitting & holding them on the couch and wanting to help with food & water. Her school will be learning about birds in the month of May, so the chicks may visit school for a few days.

New Bike!

Madigan and Kyle headed to the bike swap last weekend and came home with a new princess bike with training wheels. Turns out it was the neighbor girl's bike! Needless to say, Madigan has been very motivated to learn to ride her new bike. The snow this week put quite a damper on that.

Leo is way into bikes!Every night after dinner:

And of course when the library (among others) was hosting a bike safety workshop, we had to take her new bike. So after dinner last Monday we left the house with Madigan & her new bike strapped onto the xtracycle behind Kyle, and Leo and his rocket in the bike trailer behind me.....turns out we got there just in time for the snowstorm and then had to bike home in said snowstorm.
And then of course no bike would be complete without a good teacher:
