Cork Boats

The kids and I followed this tutorial and made cork boats yesterday. Then of course we had to go and float our boats on a nearby trail. The trail I picked had just the right amount of water and a bridge we could stand over to float the boats. Madigan loved it. Leo tried to throw his stick with the string attached in the water each time I gave it to him (gotta watch that one I tell ya!!).

Leo is so observant when we're out on walks. Here he's listening to and watching a red winged blackbird in the tree.

Here's our boats. They worked perfectly and only took 3 minutes to make. You can see one in the water in the background. (Side note: this is my perfect day: making something crafty really fast and then taking it out to play with. I wish that every day was so easy.)And of course, there were snacks before falling asleep on the walk back:

And some time in the water barefoot:

Kyle's Departure

Here's a few photos we snapped as Kyle was pulling out for his 2 week trip.

After Dinner Summer Fun

The high school is only one block over from us. It's Madigan's daily after dinner request to head over there to fly a kite or look at the small stream lining the sidewalk. After dinner a night last week Kyle took the kids over to fly a kite while I cleaned up the house. Yup, Leo is totally in a diaper and shirt.

Madigan Dressed as a Cat Artwork

Madigan drew this picture the other day and I immediately swiped it to scan and show off to y'all. It's Madigan dressed as a cat (in the middle), Leo dressed as a dragon (on the left) and a friend dressed as a flower (on the right). The large pink tree thing is a "dog paw shaped tree". Oh yeah, and those are pumpkins on the ground.

Peet's Hill

If you know us, you know we won't leave our beloved Montana Summer....when it's here, it is soooo dang good. A few weeks ago, we had 3 days hit 80 degrees and we ran ourselves into the ground trying to go everything and anything outside. One morning we headed to Peet's Hill for a walk. Leo napped most of it but woke up in time to walk part of it as well.

Backyard Digging

The kids are loving the dirt mounds in our backyard....their Mama not so much...
